The economy may be draining the water out of some swimming pool businesses. Las Vegas pool contractors have seen an increase in the swimming pool estimates and installations although the pools they are installing tend to be a little smaller than they were 10 or 20 years ago.

The trend today for swimming pools and outdoor living is to put less surface area for the swimming and spend more money on the surrounding amenities, especially in places like Las Vegas or the Southern states, where swimming pools in outdoor living or use up to six months or more of the year, people are spending more money on elaborate barbecue areas or outdoor fire pits and patios with screened-in porches for extra outdoor living space.

Many people who are investing in swimming pools are concerned with two trends, safety and more enhancements.  Families want more recreational pools for things like volleyball or additional features such as waterfalls, spas, jumping rocks or underwater benches. 

The safety issue is addressed with metal or wood fencing that contain self locking gates in addition to a filtration system that has a regulation size cover over the drain at the bottom of the pool so no child can be pulled into the powerful suction.

Another popular trend is called ‘spools’ which are a combination small pool and heated spa; however these are mostly seen in childless homes where they are mostly thought of as adult entertainment style swimming pool accessories.

Atlanta swimming pool contractors are seeing a lot of lagoon and rock work.  These areas are typically about 18 inches deep at the entrance which provides a perfect place for children to play or mom and dad to place their beach chairs next to a beach bag in the water for a relaxing time in the sun.
