A digital SLR camera bag is built specifically for single lens reflex cameras. And for as many different types of photographers, there are just as many diverse types of camera bags available on the market today.
An outdoor photographer would probably prefer a backpack style camera bag rather than go with a shoulder satchel style bag because if the photographer has to run after an animal, bicyclists or others sport, they do not want their camera and accessories bouncing around on their hip or falling out of the bag. A backpack style camera bag has several different padded compartments and will keep everything snug in its place.
A regular all occasion photographer typically have their own studio in which subjects come to them; however there are different circumstances in which large groups, families or individuals would prefer to have their photograph taken at a certain location such as an outdoor park, near a waterfall or the zoo. Then the photographer would have to pack up their camera and other accessories and take them with them on location; this would call for various types of camera bags depending on the location in order to keep their equipment safe and dry.
A wedding photographer might use a fanny pack or waist style camera bag in order to keep the camera close at hand for those candid shots of the wedding party and wedding guests in addition to being able to set the camera back in the case for a quick adjustment of the wedding party near a fountain or a bridge of flowers without having to set the camera on the ground where it could be damaged.
Depending on the age of the students, a large duffel bag with many compartments or a backpack style camera bag would be perfect for a school picture photographer because they too need different sized lenses, tripods and sometimes props in order to get good school pictures.
No matter what type of photographer a person is, from wedding photographer to sports photographer to school photographer, they all carry different styles of camera and lenses because one never knows what type of shot might come along and a photographer always needs to be prepared.
