Tucson pawn shopThe nation seems to be in a gold trading frenzy because gold prices seems to be hovering near $1000 an ounce and people are putting their stock in gold rather than in other types of stocks and bonds because of the way the market has been reacting lately to the downward economy.

A Tucson pawn shop is seeing an increase in people bringing in gold jewelry, pieces of gold and gold coins in the past year or so in order to cash in on the ‘cash for gold’ buying spree many pawn shops have created for themselves.

A logical question for someone who wants to build a portfolio with a safe commodity would be to invest in gold, however not to put all your eggs in one basket.  In other words do not invest your entire portfolio in gold because the gold market could crash as easily as any other markets, although experts do not see this happening any time soon.

One argument for buying gold is a hedge against inflation. The value of gold rises as the value of paper (and coin) money deteriorates, because gold tends to keep its’ buying power in times of economic uncertainty and inflation.

If a person wants to sell gold, such as old gold jewelry or gold coins that have been sitting around their home collecting dust, there are many avenues an individual can take in order to make money on their gold.

Selling gold jewelry online or through one of the companies that advertise on television can be a risky business because there is no room to walk away from the deal if you do not like their terms.  Dealing with your local pawn shop is the best place to sell your gold jewelry, gold pieces and gold coins because it not only allows you to walk away from the deal if it is not what you expected the money to be, it helps put money into the your community’s economy.

Local pawn shops train their employees on how to weigh and measure the gold pieces and gold jewelry. Plus, if you do not like the price, you are welcome to take the items to another neighborhood pawn shop.
